Nakawa East Member of Parliament Hon. Ronald Nsubuga Balimwezo has applauded the Fortebet real stars sports monthly awards.
Balimwezo who is also aspiring for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat was a special guest at the awards on 1st July at Lazio restaurant Kololo as four winners were awarded for the month of June.
At the awards, Uganda Christian University netball player Linda Muzigo, SOMMET Basketball club’s Frank Nyembo Fataki, middle distance runner Peruth Chemutai and golf legend Deo Akope were the winners.

Linda Muzigo is defender currently playing for UCU Netball club the Uganda netball Super League where she performed brighter in June.
Her performance defensive performances handed UCU a 48-37 win over UPDF and her side continue to beat Busia 60-42.
Despite a bad ending of the month falling to NIC 37-33 in a she was also the eye-catching player of the losing side ending up taking UCU on top of the Netball Super league.
For the Accolade, she out-performed her teammate Alice Isoto and KCCA’s Shafie Nalwanja. “Am glad to win this award with entire team Angels, it is a motivation factor, I appreciate the organizers for creating efforts in pushing us to pull up our performances, for my team we are having a fantastic season we have only lost one game and also it was a good game despite losing” Muzigo said.
In Basketball Frank Nyembo Fatak of SOMMET Basketball Club won the award over JKL Lady Dolphins and Peter Akok of KIU Titans.
It is his performance that pushed him up, in June Nyembo drove SOMMET Basketball Club past KIU Titans 92-73, beat Kampala Rockets 85-81 and humbles down City Oilers 90-87 before winning over JKL Dolphins Men 68- 64.
Despite a 55-52 loss to KCCA panthers Nyembo still managed to put a significant Performance for the June award.
Out of the five games SOMMET Basketball Club played, Nyembo averaged 21 points, picking up a combined 57 rebounds and 26 turnovers to drive SOMMET Basketball Club to a 6th place on the National Basketball logo with 27 points in 17 games.
In Athletics Peruth Chemutai was the best runner in the month after winning a silver medal at Paris Diamond League in her renown 3,000m steeplechase race clocking a seasonal best 8:54.41.
She hardly lost a gold only by a whisker with her 2024 Paris Olympic games rival, Kenya’s Faith Cherotich clinching gold after finishing at 8:53.37.
For the most Iconic award the Lifetime Achievement award, Golf Deo Akope was appreciated with the award for his long presence in the sports as an amateur, Professional and as a coach throughout his over 30 years golfing career.
The awarding event had Honorable Member of Parliament for Nakawa East Ronald Nsubuga Balimwezo as the special guest being a former Athlete of different sports disciplines in a sporting which was cut short by accident which caused him a lifetime injury.
The Aspirant Lord Mayor called the Government to add efforts in resecuring Sports facilities and protecting the few that are remaining. “It is sad that we are losing sports facilities other open spaces to the business investors, in Nakawa we had over ten sports ground not we have less than five, It is our government which has to fight and resecure them and also protect those few which are still holding”

He further applauded the organizers and the sponsors as he calls more companies to come in and join the awards. “I applaud the organizers and the sponsors because they are inspiring many into different sports disciplines, Sport is not just a sport but it gives careers and in grounding self-defense ” Balimwezo stated.
“I call upon many other private companies to come in and join the awards, these awards are key in developing sports men and remain us the former players” he added.
At the event, the special guest was alongside Fortebet representative Resty Mbatidde Namugema, Jude Colours Solutions’ Henry Zzimbe and the Chief Executive Officer Real Stars sports agency, Isaac Mukasa.
