In the FIFA Club World Cup, the final round of group stage matches will feature some absolute thrillers, including Benfica taking on Bayern Munich; Inter Milan take on Argentine heavyweights River Plate; and Juventus face Manchester City.

From an African perspective, Egypt’s Al Ahly will tackle Porto in New Jersey; Esperance de Tunis tackle Chelsea in Philadelphia; South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns – known as ‘The Brazilians’ – will face actual Brazilians in the shape of Fluminense; and Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca will target a win against Al Ain in Washington DC.
Esperance star Amine Ben Hamida has expressed his excitement at facing the Blues: “I’m most looking forward to our game against Chelsea. Of course, we’ll treat every match the same, but I think we’re particularly eager to face Chelsea.”
SuperSport’s pre-match analysis, range of camera angles, post-match banter, talk shows, and world-class commentary means you will squeeze every drop of enjoyment out of your viewing from the CWC.
And once the group stage is wrapped up on the early morning of Friday 27 June, the Round of 16 gets underway the very next evening.
One of the teams heavily favoured to challenge for the title in this new format of the CWC is Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid.
‘Los Blancos’ midfielder Jude Bellingham has laid out their ambitions very clearly: “It’s a new competition and we want to be the first ones to win it,” said the Englishman.
“There aren’t many things you can do at this club that haven’t already been done. It’s a bit of history and I want to achieve those firsts. I want to have a career that’s as successful as possible and be involved in the greatest teams. I want to win.”

Following South Africa’s historic triumph over Australia in the World Test Championship final earlier in June, the focus now shifts to two key Test series.
Fresh off their WTC glory, South Africa head to Harare to face Zimbabwe in the First Test starting June 28. Buoyed by their recent success, the Proteas will look to maintain momentum, though Zimbabwe will be eager to upset their neighbours and make a statement on home soil.
Australia travel to the Caribbean to take on the West Indies from June 25 in a bid to regroup and reassert their dominance. After falling short in the final, Pat Cummins’ side will be under pressure to bounce back against a resurgent West Indies team with growing depth and confidence.
With South Africa now the team to beat, both matches will offer early insight into how the new Test cycle might unfold for two proud cricketing nations.

In addition, Formula 1 heads to Spielberg for the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring. George Russell and Mercedes will be flying high after their triumph in Canada earlier in the month, but McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris will be determined to bounce back after their coming together in Montreal.
And never count out Max Verstappen on Red Bull Racing’s home circuit. The Dutchman gets huge support from the locals in Spielberg, as well as travelling fans from the Netherlands, and he is a four-time Austrian GP winner.

Sports fans can look forward to a diverse and action-packed week across multiple disciplines. It all begins on Tuesday, 24 June, with the 64th Ostrava Golden Spike meet, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour. Expect standout performances, including Swedish pole vault world record holder Armand Duplantis aiming to beat his own meet record of 6.12 meters from 2023.
On Saturday, the WTA Tour heats up with the Bad Homburg Open final, a crucial grass-court warm-up before Wimbledon, while the evening features WWE’s Night of Champions, which will deliver high-octane entertainment, with titles on the line and major storylines peaking.
The Night of Champions will see the crowing of both the King and Queen of the Ring with final matches in the respective tournaments, as well as an Undisputed WWE Championship match between two of the all-time greats, as John Cena faces CM Punk.
“The boy scout saying you’re going to ruin wrestling, to ruin the establishment that made you who you are, and CM Punk, the outcast seemingly defending the establishment… the more things change, the more they stay the same,” said Punk.
“I’m not defending the establishment, let’s make it real clear, John. I’m not standing for TKO, I’m not here to defend the billionaires, I’m here to defend the people. Are you mad because the establishment picked you, but the people never did? The people picked me, way back in 2011, to be the voice of the voiceless! It’s time CM Punk taught John Cena that he’s just a spoke on the wheel.”
Sunday, 29 June, brings fight fans a double header: UFC 317 sees undefeated former featherweight champion Ilia Topuria face Charles Oliveira for the vacant Lightweight Championship, while in boxing, South African star Landile Ngxeke takes on Mexico’s Eric Gamboa for two international bantamweight belts.
Then on Monday, 30 June, tennis’s crown jewel, Wimbledon, begins. Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will likely continue their epic rivalry on the Men’s side of the singles tournament, while the Women’s contest is set to be dominated by Aryna Sabalenka, Elene Rybakina, Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek.
