The Kyambogo University Guild President Akiso Benjamin and others have been released on cash bail of Ugx. 100,000 each before the Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court in Kampala.

“As UNSA, we strongly condemn the suspension of student leaders for protesting surcharge fees. Silencing voices undermines academic freedom and growth not just for institutions, but for Uganda’s future. Dialogue, not repression, is the way forward.” says UNSA General Secretary John Kasule.
We urge the university’s leadership to rescind the arbitrary suspension of 17 students to allow them to sit for their exams, says colleagues.
Under the law, students have a right to peacefully express their opinions and criticism of university policies, says whistle blower.
