Kampala Archdiocese Vicar General Emeritus, Msgr Charles Kasibante, has urged Christians to help others generously without expecting anything in return.

Speaking at the vigil of the late Dr Louis Godfrey Mukwaya, Msgr Kasibante praised Mukwaya for supporting financially disadvantaged children through education & urged others to emulate his kindness & good heart.

Dr Mukwaya, who died at the age 87yrs, joined the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) in 1965 as its first Ugandan graduate and served for 61 years before retiring in 1999 but continued as a consultant.

UVRI Director Prof Pontiano Kaleebu described him as a research pioneer whose work on mosquito feeding behavior contributed to modern studies on genetic modification of disease-carrying mosquitoes.

He also helped preserve valuable research specimens during the difficult 1970s and was remembered for his discipline, integrity and corruption-free record. A mosquito species was named after him in recognition of his research.
