The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities is the latest partner to join the Mbarara City Marathon bandwagon.
This was revealed on 10th March 2026 as the fast-growing Marathon was being launched alongside the Explore Ankole Campaign.

This launch was also graced by the state minister of Tourism, wildlife and Antiquities Martin Mugarra Bahinduka at Fair way hotel in Kampala.
“We are glad to partner with Mbarara city Marathon,” Minister Mugarra noted.

The ministry of Tourism in coordination with Explore Ankole Campaign are in an extensive cooperation to promote domestic tourism.
They want to show Ugandans that Uganda is blessed and the campaign is aimed at unlocking the hidden opportunities Uganda has.
The western trip commences on the 26th of March having a stopover at Equator Kayabwe then proceed to Mbarara city and experience it’s night life as well.
The newest edition of the Mbarara City Marathon is to take place on the 28th of March in Mbarara city and it flags off at 6am.
Golola Moses will lead the limbering session of the Marathon and indulge participants into workouts before and after the marathon during the up and cooling down sessions respectively.

Participants are to partake in 42km, 21km,10kms and 5kms. After the run, Mugamba palace shall be opened up which shall also be the centre point of the event, closing it down with Kandake concert Explore.
The entourage has lot prepared for them which includes a drive through the coffee park for industrial tourism, agro tourism and nature tourism.

CEO Mbarara City Marathon, Kaka Dickens Friday, “I thank minister of tourism Wildlife and Antiquities for embracing this marathon. We have prepared alot for you. We are running for a particular cow. Our cow is now at 400million shs in South Africa. There shall be free transport to whoever buys the marathon kit and participants are to partake in 42km,21km,10km and 5km. We have designated routes where you master the heart of Ankole,where kings were buried etc. Thank you Ministry of tourism for coming on board to show case how beautiful Ankole is.”
Inspire Africa, Ministry of tourism, Lato Milk, Explore Uganda among others have all partnered up with Mbarara City marathon.
